A Coastal Retreat
with History
Once the old RNLI lifeboat station of Port Eynon, The Boat House has been lovingly reimagined into a peaceful seafront haven.
Its upside-down layout maximises the panoramic sea views - with bright, open-plan living upstairs and cosy bedrooms below. We wanted to retain its character while bringing in contemporary comforts and calm, coastal interiors inspired by the ever-changing tides just beyond the window.
Rooted in History
Reimagined for Today
From lifeboat launches to laid-back retreats, The Boat House has lived many lives. What began as a working RNLI station in the early 1900s has become a peaceful coastal escape - shaped by the past, designed for the present, and ready for what’s next.

The RNLI lifeboat station at Port Eynon is built - a vital part of the coastal community, serving for over 40 years.
1919
The lifeboat station closes after decades of courageous rescues along the Gower coastline. The building remains, rich with history.
1980s
The former station is transformed into a Youth Hostel, welcoming walkers, backpackers and beach lovers from all over the UK.
2021
Andrew discovers the building and envisions a new kind of stay - one that blends its character with modern, coastal calm.

Why We Chose
Port Eynon
We fell in love with its laid-back pace and breathtaking views — and knew it was the perfect backdrop for a different kind of stay. Whether you're paddleboarding at sunrise or enjoying fish and chips on the shore, there's a kind of magic here that never fades.
